To see or not to see...

Vision_by_the_baron
Crystal clear blue waters, the pink feathers of the flamingo, the evergreen tree, the beautiful rainbow after a rainstorm, the explosion of colour in a fantastic sunset. It is the vision of nature that no one will argue about. It is the vision of all things bright and beautiful that we admire. A painting, a dancer, a multi-coloured spinnaker at full gust. The beauty of a smile on a child, the view of earth from a space shuttle, the visions from the depths of the deepest seas all wonders of this amazing world we live in.

We take it for granted these visions of awe and beauty. Everyday we see these things and never seem to get enough time to appreciate them. We work hard, we play hard. Our lives in constant motion, and the wonders of the world come and go. Still, we know these visions, we recognise them and when we do care enough, they are appreciated for their true value.

Funny thing is with the ugly visions too. We see homeless people. AIDS ravaged children in Africa, and yes even the slaughter of thousands of innocents in Darfur. For whatever reason our vision of this tells our conscience that it is too horrible to watch, something we shouldn't see, something that is there, and we know it is, but very few want to appreciate the nature of it. What we hope is that, like a horror movie, or another sight that makes us cringe, it will just soon go away.

It's not going away. The view remains the same, and we can't seem to make this sad picture a pretty one. Ignoring it, just doesn't make it go away. Unless we commit to changing the view... changing the picture.... each one of us... the picture will always make us cringe.

Please... Please... recognise this view... this vision and help change it forever!

The chance we have....

Make a difference. Just do it. Seize the day.

All amazing little inspirational quotes. There are thousands of them. Whatever works for you. We live day to day motivated by personal challenges to be the best we can be. Exercise and diet regimens, personal and professional challenges to give us the best opportunity to succeed. More money, more freedom, more opportunities. We live in a society that allows us freedom of speach. We travel, visit foreign countries, and the world community is a much smaller, more readily accessible place. What a wonderful world we live in.

Darfur.

Sorry to spoil the mood. What have we done lately. We've seen the news reports, maybe threw a couple of bucks out there when relief efforts came asking. What more can you do? What should you be expected to do. We are so busy in our personal lives. Let the politicians handle it. Let the UN handle it. Let the Africans handle it. I mean really.... I am only one person! What can I do? I can't make that much of a difference. Can I?

Yes you can. You must. The chance is here. NOW. Just do it. Seize the Day. Make a difference.

Please....please... this genocide must stop now.

Where do you get your ideas?

Posted on Jul 14th, 2007 by sparxx : Life inspired, dream driven, passion poet sparxx
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 14, 2007:

Inspired
Inspiration comes from many places. One should never be limited in seeking sources of inspiration. To see the smile of a child, hear the songs of hope, appreciate the art of the dancer, the majesty of the eagle soaring so high.

Never put limitations on your visions. To achieve the impossible, one must recognise the challenge and all things that are possible. Soon we shall see that nothing is impossible.

Enough...

Book_cover

It is such a priviledge to live in a free world. I am midway through this book and encouage all of you to take a stand and let the world know that these types of mass atrocoities are unacceptable. It has been proven that when the world stands together great things can be accomplished. It is time to stand together, it is time to stand up for those who can not... it is time to scream for those whose voice can not be heard.

Reflections

Social conscience.

Politically aware.

The world we look at and the need to expand our view of the global community. No longer are we limited by the four walls that surround us. Home is definitely where the heart is. So what do we seek? Knowledge? Truth? A wisdom that is greater than that what we have known thus far? Does science threaten religion, does religion exist in a growing universe?  How far do we challenge the past? How far do we push the envelope for the future?

Science demands answers. We need answers for the future of humanity. Disease, both human and global are threatening our existence. The planet we call home is not the safe haven it was a mere century ago. We must endeavour to become educated, not be limited to the narrow views of the religious right. The future of our planet will not be found in prophecy, it will be found in the effforts of man.

Don't get me wrong. People need religion, I can understand that. The challenge of our own morality, and the need to have something after death is a plausible reason for this, and even I would like to believe in a life after death scenario. Unfortunately, we have nothing to base this on, only those who would have us believe in a heaven or heavens. I have yet to meet anyone who came back. Oh yes, the Jesus guy... ok... but I haven't officially shaken his hand.

So we look for other ideas, other answers. The universe as we know it is expanding every day. Planets are found and the possibilities of life existing elsewhere increases by the second. What is more feasible...a heaven to save our souls, or another planet with life on it?

To believe that we are the only ones in the universe is naieve and it scares the hell out of the religious right. Science will find life elsewhere and when this breakthrough happens, God as we know him, in whatever form he takes, will be just another fictional character...right up there with Moby Dick.

Sorry... that's just my thoughts on the subject. If you need God in your life, then please know that I'm ok with it. Pray for me. He can call me if he wants... I'm always free for him.

The light...

The light...

In the darkest of times,
A light will always shine
a light to lead the way,
toward a better new day.

Let your light shine
As one with mine
A glimmer of hope, in a dark age
A glimmer of love, to end all the rage

Shining together our light will be brighter
together with others the world as one fighter
Showing the way for those in need
Warming the heart is no small deed

Our world as one, united by pain
Our world to heal, our future to gain
Our light leads, demanding to be seen
Our light exposes the horrors that have been

We move to a time where the dove will take flight
We move to a time of peace over might
The light gives strength and hope to all
The scourge of Aids and hunger must fall.

Never lose hope, never give up
The fight is ours with love in our cup
We'll feed the hungry and help the poor
We'll fight Aids from door to door.

The time is here, the light is our beacon
We'll continue this fight any way we can.
We're tired of hunger and pain in a child
The light is our beacon a call in the wild.

The being of one

The Being of One One smile, one face one heart finds it's place One hand, one to feel One will keep me real One day, one night One nation, one might One moment... one time One mountain to climb One hope, one dream one to hear the scream One pain, one tear it is our worst fear We live today... united as one, one people, one world one love, one sun. One life, one day we will find one way One wound to stop bleeding One hunger to keep feeding One chance to be great One hungry child's fate One face, one smile One cause worthwhile. We have a chance... a chance to change, a chance to be more than we have ever been before. Take a chance... give someone a chance to be more than they ever thought possible.
